July 29, 31 and August 2 – 8 p.m.
Théâtre La Bordée

The collaboration continues for a third consecutive year between the Jeunesses Musicales Canada and the Festival d’opéra de Québec! Six up-and-coming young artists present Le nozze di Figaro, one of Mozart’s most beloved operas.

This bemusing story with biting humour is full of twists and turns. Figaro, valet to the Count Almaviva, is set to marry Susanna, the Countess’s maid. But their wedding day is interrupted by misunderstandings and mischief aimed either at delaying the marriage or thwarting the Count’s plans (who for his part has vowed to seduce the future bride).

Mozart and Da Ponte’s first collaboration, this opera based on a comedy by Beaumarchais provides an opportunity to hear some of the most promising vocal artists in the country. Alain Gauthier will stage the production, with all the talent and humour we have come to expect from him.

Music: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
